I would have to second what Jon Carter said about the Chinese-made scale sold by D-S LIvestock for $99. It's a piece of junk. The ratchet system seems to fall apart on its own. I have had to take it apart several times to put it back together. The nice thing about D-S Livestock is that Dennis talked me through it over the phone the first time it happened and trained me well so that I wouldn't have to bother him any more. Time well spent for Dennis.

I did talk to Dennis, sounds like everyone uses the cheap scales. I don't really care how correct it is, just that it is consistent. If the Detecto is what works then thats fine.
