Transport from Michigan to N.W. Iowa

Hello All,

I am looking for a ride for some ewes from S.W. Michigan to N.W. Iowa. Thinking around 15 head. Thanks.

Re: Data Drives Meinders Stock Farm

If you think about it, leaving the smaller ones in the group would actually lower the group average.... this would actually make the average ones look better and make the above average ones look even better. It is my understanding that taking them out of the group would actually hurt the ebvs of you...

Re: Center of Nation and Eastern NSIP Sale Catalogs

Sounds like the Sale and in Iowa went well. Is anyone planning on attending the Eastern sale next week in Ohio? My dad, mom, and nephew will be there with our three Dorset ram consignments.

Re: Depressed ewe

Is she pooping? Does her stomach seem tight. We had a ewe this year which we thought may have had acidosis. Treated her per our vets direction but she never got better. She always seemed slightly bloated by not the typical left side type bloat. Just tight and uncomfortable. Thinking she may have had...

Re: Need help brainstorm barn feeding options

We made a few of the premier feeders this year and so far really appreciate them. So much nicer than actually going into the pen with the grain!

Re: Easycare sheep

Hello Bill, would love to sell you a Dorset ram, but I saw premier had some ewe lambs for sale that may match what you are looking for. We do May lambing on pasture with pretty good success and minimal intervention (Unless it is cold and raining for too long). Never tried late May early June lambing...

Free choice hay.

I have often read where people feed free choice hay. In our limited experience here always seems to be more "waste" than we appreciate. We have used the premier panel feeder and much depends on the quality of hay. Often times we end up feeding daily to get waste to an acceptable level. We ...

Re: Red Clover

Is red clover as much of a concern as white clover or alfalfa? I was at a presentation in Michigan and I saw some pictures of of sheep and lambs eating some lush almost pure stands. I was worried about bloat so I asked the presentor and he made it sound like it wasn't a huge concern. I know of anoth...

Re: dorset sheep for sale, Michigan.

Rather than staring a new thread I thought I would just update this one.

We have one May 2013 born ram for sale. He was twin born and raised on pasture until after weaning in the fall. He has been used in our flock and some f his offspring on the farm.
